A Ferry Service Between Portarlington and Melbourne.

Now operating seven days a week.

In early 2011 the Bellarine Ferry Group joined with the Portarlington Safe Harbour Group to ensure the Victorian Government continues work on the Portarlington Safe Harbour which will provide safe all weather berths for the Bellarine to Melbourne ferry.

Our main activities have been directed at getting the first stage of the Portarlington Safe Harbour (which contains the ferry berths) realised, as promised by the then government.

Lisa Neville, Member for  Bellarine and Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Water in the newly elected Labor Government (2014), lobbied long and hard to get the necessary funds required to build the first stage of the Safe Harbour and she was successful.

The Safe Harbour upgrade commenced in February 2015.

The approved design for the new Portarlington Safe Harbour, with the ferry berths well positioned for ease of passenger embarking and disembarking, can be seen here.

In August 2016 Port Phillip Ferries commenced trials of the Ferry Service from Portarlington to Docklands.

On 22 November 2016 the permanent service commenced with scheduled services every day between Portarlington and Docklands, Melbourne.

The ferry connects residents of the Bellarine Peninusla  directly into the Melbourne CBD and provides a smooth transport option for passengers to and from Portarlington.
